Commerical Satellite Remote Sensing Workshop
NOAA will hold a Commercial Remote Sensing Satellite Licensing Workshop on January 17, 2007, from 8:30 am -5:30 pm. This workshop will be aimed at addressing regulatory licensing activities and strategies for CRS. It will be open to USG employees/contractors that are involved in the NOAA licensing process, Industry and NOAA Advisory Committee members, as well as our licensees.

Commerical Remote Sensing Satellite Symposium
The proceedings from the NOAA/USGS Commercial Remote Sensing Symposium: "Key Trends and Challenges in the Global Marketplace", held September 13-15, 2006 in Washington, D.C. are available by clicking on the here http://www.crssymposium.com/program/CRSSymposiumProceedings.pdf. If you would like other information about the Symposium program, check out the folling website:   www.CRSSymposium.com

World Commercial Remote Sensing Satellite Database
The links below will direct you to a list of all the optical satellites or radar satellites in orbit or scheduled for launch. The Microsoft Excel spreadsheet is updated quarterly and allows you to search the list based on the criteria of your choosing. To search simply click on the pull down tab located in the right side of the header cell and select the criteria for your search (e.g. if you which to see all the U.S. satellites with a PAN of 1m click on the pull down tab in the cell labeled "country" and select "United States" then click on the pull down tab labeled "PAN" and select "1" ). Launch dates in red represent launches that are scheduled to occur in the future while those dates written in black note launches which have already occurred. There are also links to PDF versions of the database, however these documents are not searchable. These documents are based on public information. If you have any additional information or corrections please contact [Kay.Weston@noaa.gov]and we will update the documents.

NOAA's On-Line Survey of Aerial and Space-Bourne Remote Sensing Trends
This survey has been developed to study aerial and space-borne remote sensing trends and activities in more than 20 Asian countries, including Australia. Global Marketing Insights has tailored a series of online surveys covering issues relating to eight sectors of the remote sensing market: aerial film, aerial digital, aerial sensors, satellites, commercial end users, value added hardware and software, academic and government. Click on the website below to take the five-minute online survey is posted at www.empliant.com/NOAA-remote-sensing-research. NOAA is seeking survey responses from individuals involved in the remote sensing industry within Asia or specifically doing remote sensing-related business in Asia. The objective of the Asian Survey is to gain insight into the technological, political, economic and environmental trends impacting each of the eight key business sectors within the Asian market.”

US Commercial Remote Sensing Policy
The President authorized a new national policy on April 25, 2003 that establishes guidance and implementation actions for commercial remote sensing space capabilities. This policy supersedes Presidential Decision Directive 23, U.S. Policy on Foreign Access to Remote Sensing Space Capabilities, dated 9 March 1994. This fact sheet provides a summary of the new policy.  Click here for Fact Sheet

Remote Sensing Market in Aerial and Spaceborne Survey
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Satellite and Information Service sponsored a Remote Sensing Market in Aerial and Spaceborne technology study of the five- and ten-year trend analysis of the political, economic and technical trends impacting the global remote sensing industry. The project was completed by Global Marketing Insights, Inc. and the study is available by clicking on the following link below:

The Land Remote Sensing Laws and Policies of National Governments:
A Global Survey (January 07)

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Satellite and Information Service sponsored a global survey of land remote sensing laws and policies. This study reviews some of the laws and policies that address the commercialization and privatization of space-based remote sensing systems, data, and data products. The survey was completed by the National Center for Remote Sensing, Air, and Space Law and is available via the following link:
